VISUALIZE CONCEPTS

Artist, Anna Plavinskaya, displays five different works of art using a drawing pen and Indian ink. Each drawing showcases a warped visual of both people and objects alike. Every picture has numerous perspectives and intentional blurs to keep the eye running smoothly along its canvas. I found that after looking at this display several different times, I would always notice something I had not before. I chose to share this piece because it's the kind of art that demands your attention more than once. If you want to get a solid grasp on the artist and her work, you must revisit each one and spend time digesting her work. Similar to a morphing effect, they seem to carry different stories yet collectively meshing as one. Because of the detailed pen work she uses, I will be giving her display a 3 out of 3 on the creativity scale. I do believe the work to be highly unique to this artists' style. I also commend her ability to see the 'bigger picture'. Anna certainly seems to have her own developed style and uses it to her advantage. I imagine that these took her months, possibly a year to complete. Every drawing is a complex and detailed work of art - I'm sure there are inspirational meanings to match. Sadly, I wasn't able to catch the artist out and about, but if I did I would have loved to pick her brain on the intention behind this ArtPrize display. Below I have provided a close up of each picture.

As stated previously, in order to earn a 3 out of 3 on the creativity scale (in my book), the art would need to be detailed, unique, and not easily replicated - these 5 separate drawings above are just that. Each one of them clearly took hours of thought and effort to complete, as well as skill and innovation. The artist deserves a 3 out of 3 because not only is her work extremely imaginative, but it also has thoughtful meaning behind each drawing.

Drawings one and two: 'Beauty Salon' and 'Thirst'

Both of these first two drawings are rather emotional. I not only see multiple images, but different stories as well. The first titled 'Beauty Salon' is an interesting name in my opinion. Before reading the title I thought it looked like many people who were warped and huddling...or eating. With an intentional name, I believe the message here to be based around the idea of beauty and how humans so heavily indulge in it, even to the point of harm. With that, I view this drawing to be a mockery of the beauty industry. It depicts the reliance we have on it, thus the relevance we give it. I imagine todays society had a major impact on this artist and her emotions during the creative art process. To have an eye so far back from what you are literally so close to, takes real talent. Plavinskaya accomplishes that in all her drawings. It is apparent she puts much effort into her work. The second drawing titled 'Thirst' is also a clear message to me. When first reflecting this drawing I thought it to have that of a fluid, water-like affect; almost as if it's a river of people. As if to say, we are all of the same species, we are all brothers and sisters on earth. With so much hate and discrimination happening today, this drawing depicts the desire or thirst to come together as one. Much like the picture we are all intertwined and connected. Once oneness has been achieved, we can move towards becoming a more peaceful race. Much like the first, I think society has played a part in the art process here. The way she makes this picture flow together shows that she intentionally meant to create the feeling of fluidness or thirst to be felt.

Drawing three: 'Goat's Milk

Drawing four: 'Allez!Allez!'

Drawing five: 'Cataclysm2'

I really really love this drawing! I'm unsure what the title means exactly, but I totally dig the female vibe it offers.
